You've already checked responsiveness, airway, breathing, and circulation.
Now you have to do something with all of that, so the primary assessment
doesn't end with a list of findings. It ends with a decision: identify
life threats, then decide priority of care and transport.
The rule is short. A life-threatening condition is present, the patient is
unstable, and you treat it immediately. No life-threatening condition,
the patient is stable, and you move on to the nature of illness or
mechanism of injury.
That sounds like two boxes. It's actually three.
