Perfusion means blood is getting to your tissues, and it's carrying oxygen when it gets there. That takes three things working together. You need a pump — the heart. You need a volume — enough blood in the vessels. And you need a container — vessels that hold a normal size and don't leak.
Shock is what happens when one of those three fails. So every shock category traces back to one broken piece: the pump, the volume, or the container. A fourth mechanism sits alongside them — something physically blocking flow from outside the heart. That gives you four categories. Learn the broken piece first, and the category name follows.
